The Comrie & District men's shed is a Registered charity (SCIO # SC048922), designed to support all adults over the age of 18. Offering a friendly social environment where they can interact with and enjoy their hobbies with other like-minded individuals, teach and learn from each other and offer the support each member needs.
“A place where stories are shared, friendships are forged and memories are made”
“A place where stories are shared, friendships are forged and memories are made”
Variety is the spice of life.
Comrie shed is a large facility based in a historic WW2 Nissen hut We want to to offer our members free and easy access to all the hobbies they could want from woodwork to blacksmithing. Basic DIY, Cottage crafts, IT skills, book clubs, Leather-craft, photography, ham radio or bird watching to name but a few, whether building a stool for home or constructing a new playground for the local community it will be planned, managed and run by its members using their expertise and knowledge.
Everyone needs a helping hand now and thenEvery organisation needs patrons of one form or another, especially when staring out and we are no exception. Thankfully we have had some great backers and a lot of local support. Further to this the Scottish men's shed association is supported by both the NHS and Age Scotland.
Repaired & Re-furbished
Many of the projects taken on by our members are to restore, re-furbish and repair broken, damaged or worn out goods. That being said we also craft many items for craft shows and as prizes for our games. Those that are spare are sold to help raise funds for the shed. |
Everyone & their dog
The Comrie shed is open to all adults aged 18 and over. We can help transport you there if needed, just get in touch. Men ;- Tuesday & Saturdays Women ;- Mondays Wednesdays are open to all Dogs always welcome We open around 10am and usually close around 4pm (we are willing to stay open late for members who request it.)
At a glance.
The Comrie shedders have been hard at work repairing the shed for use. Although this can be tiresome work we have plenty of Breaks for Tea, Coffee, Cakes and Biscuits There is still plenty to do with many more Tea Breaks along the way ).
A little bit extra
Whether you choose to join us as a shedder or not you can still help. Not only are we always very grateful for any financial aid but you can donate old tools and equiptment that you no longer require simply by dropping it off at the hut or call and we will arange for it to be collected. |
Progress should be aspired too.
We have taken on the works needed within the hut as our first project, having not been maintained for several years it is in need of a lot of TLC. When the Hut is repaired we are intending to be do several community projects Plus assist our member’s doing personal projects. Other projects we have worked on were The Crieff Community Hospital Open Day. Saturday June 30th 2018, with some games and activities and the Comrie fortnight opening day (2018) as our first major introduction to the community we offered several activities, competitions and games, as well as an annual group construction competition with a trophy.
One for all and all for one
Our shed wants to be able to give our shedders (who range from Kilin to Blackford and Fowlis Wester at its furthest reach, although we do have a few shedders who stay much further away), free and easy access to all the hobbies, crafts and activities they could want . With over 60 members since February 2018 from all walks of life, age and profession we are growing rapidly.
Somthing to do at the shed
A little inspiration can go a long way. We have available numerous projects and designs, some by our members and others by fellow crafters in other sheds and on the internet. |
